John Mccain at Excel Energy Center

Wednesday belonged to Sarah Barracuda, but Thursday night is for the ex-prisoner of war, John McCain. After Thursday evening, it's time for the sixty day run to election day. Republicans Wednesday launched a full-throated counterpunch at the media's scrutiny of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and accused the media of wanting to "destroy" John McCain's vice presidential pick. But John is more than happy and excited at his maverick pick.

There were the days when John McCain was written off. He was running 5th or 6th among the top Republican nominees. He was out of money, carrying his own luggage, and only a couple of reporters were even reporting on hiw whereabouts. That was then, this is now.

Yesterday Fred Thompson blew the trumpet for John. Actor and former Sen. Fred Thompson, who briefly ran for president himself before dropping out in January, gave the speech that most roused the tens of thousands of Republican faithful at the convention. "John McCain's character has been tested like no other presidential candidate in the history of this nation," Thompson said, contrasting him with Obama, whom he labeled the "most liberal, most inexperienced nominee to ever run for president."

Of McCain, he said: "It's pretty clear there are two questions we will never have to ask ourselves, 'Who is this man?' and 'Can we trust this man with the Presidency?'" He recounted McCain's years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, telling the story of the downed Navy flier's fortitude in the face of physical and mental abuse. "We hear a lot of talk about hope," Thompson said, a reference to Obama's main campaign theme. "John McCain knows about hope. That's all he had to survive on."

We will soon get to the three debates and of course the vice presidentual debate which might even draw more attention than John and Barack. That's where I believe this race will be won and lost. One things that's for sure is that the ABORTION issue is now front and center. Obama is no longer trying to hide where he stands- 100% pro choice.

Finally what appears to me as the battle is that of traditional values versus secularism. Obama has taken the stand that traditional values no longer hold the majority in toe while John McCain is focusing his effort on family values and issues tht have been under attack for decades now. We'll soon see where America stands.

Bush Criminal Charges?

What will the big three do? I'm not talking about the automakers here. They may well declare bankruptcy; however, what the big three politico will do is the question. Will Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden look into criminal charges against George Bush if they win? What will they do if they lose or does winning or losing have nothing to do with the scenario?

Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden said he and presidential hopeful Barack Obama could bring criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November. "If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued," Biden said during a campaign stop in Florida. Whoa!  Is this for real?

But, if Barack doesn't win and the Democrats soundly defeat the Republicans in the House and Senate where they can over ride a veto by John McCain, might they even have more reason to pursue such a case?

Biden promised that an Obama-Biden government would go through Bush administration data with "a fine-toothed comb" and pursue criminal charges if necessary. "Not out of vengeance, not out of retribution. Out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president — no one is above the law."  But after Sarah Barracuda went after a cowardly Harry Reid in her VP speech Wednesday night, maybe it will be Pelosi-Reid attack if Obama gets washed ashore.

Political battles may not be over for # 43 when he steps down January 20th, 2009

While I thought Sarah Palin did a remarkable, fantastic, and remarkable job for one coming from her background, I'm afraid the Bush speech writer for her has set her up as the "head-banger" and will poise her opponents for a red meat attack. Hey, what's a VP candidate for if not being the hit man, giving and taking them while the main man (can you say John McCain) is forgotten. This is exactly what happened in 1992.

The press went after Hillary for various reasons, taking the heat off Bubba. In Judaeo-Christian circles it's called a "sacrificial lamb". Welcome to politics Sarah!

Electoral College

Many people watch the Gallup and USAToday poll on wht daily changes there are in popular vote opinions, whihc are simply that, opinions. One day Obama is up by 6, then 8, then 10, now tied. It's a lot of hype over nothing much. The real thing that one needs to remember (Government #101), is that the peson who wins the most electoral votes wins!

There's no doubt that John McCain comes out of the Republican Convention with his base, his right wing, emboldened! Sarah Barracuda has done for him what his more independent persona could not. So, he has the momentum and with the expected "Convention bounce", the race should be once again tied.

But the real race is not tied!   :-)

You see, it takes 270 electoral votes to win the presidency, not a majority of the popular vote, not even a plurality ans Bill Clinton discovered in 1992. The latest Zogby poll on the electoral map is as follows:

>Obama (safe or leaning)..........260
>McCain (   "   "      "    )..........173
>Toss Up...............................105

So, as you can see, it's a BIG DIFFERENCE in who is ahead and who is currently winning. All of this will change, but it's what needs to be looked at and not what the popular vote polls of registerd, likely to vote, or whatever category one wants to speak. The big one in the toss up category with 20% of that number is Ohio with 23 votes. One state, Indians (12) would give Obama the election.

Check out the electoral college vote and make a copy for yourself and watch these numbers for a true picture of who is winning. And watch where the candidates go to campaign. McCain wont spend any time in new York, except for a fund raiser as Obama won't be spending any time in West Virginia (only 6 electoral votes) and it's mainly a blue collar, working class, and all those other dynamics that don't take a shine to Obama's politics.

Sarah Palin Euphoria

That Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air and the energizer for the forgotten right wing of the Republican party is a no-brainer. That Sarah Palin will help Republicans raise needed cash is already coming into the coffers as McCain and the Republican party now has bout $200,000,000.00 to battle Obama. But one thing that's being currently lost in all the euphoria needs to be mentioned.

It's John McCain who is running for president!

Sarah Palin will soon take on less and less exposure as we head to the first of three debates. It's the McCain persona and the McCain agenda that runs the show, not the Palin, more conservative, brand of Republicanism. John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin — fresh from a rousing sendoff Thursday night at the Republican National Convention — hit the campaign trail running Friday, trying to win over voters with their new "Change Is Coming" mantra.

Comparing the two keynote speeches (McCain and Palin) is day and night.

Sarah Barracuda will have another day in the sun light- many days. But over the next sixty days she will be thrust back into the role that she's been approved for as John takes back the lead pony position.

Both parties have now carved out a CHANGE mantra; however, I feel that what we're going to see down the road, over the next sixty days, is not so much a discussion of CHANGE, not of who has the most EXPERIENCE. What happens here in America and on the world stage will cause both camps to CHANGE their approach and what they are touting. It's obvious that Obama is a light weight in the area of experience, even more so than Ms. Palin.

Isn't what our nation and world needs are people with a VISION, more so than experience?

Both campaigns are not in control of what's coming, what's not seen. Can you say a major economic melt down, more than what we now see. An Israeli attack on Iran. An unexpected set back in Iraq. An escalation of the war around or in Georgia. Major problems with Pakistan-Afghanistan. Capture of Osama bin Laden, etc. Get ready for the unexpected and the candidate or party that handles though as best could be, will win- Sarah Palin notwithstanding.

Get ready for at least one October surprise!

Do Pigs Wear Lipstick?

We've got it on now, don't we! I'm so glad that I don't have a horse in this race. For the first time that I can remember, I'm not bound up in NEEDING someone to win. I'll make up my mind as to who to vote for after the three debates. One party wants to kill babies and teh otehr party wants to kill our young men in war, while killing other people. Neither party, neither man is wooing me with their rhetoric, not their platforms.

You'd think that Sarah Palin was running for president and McCain as her VP.

Soon enough all the hoopla over Sarah Barracuda will die down and maybe we can get back to talking ISSUES; however, right now it's all about BOAR WARS! What's the difference between the presidential campaign before and after the national political conventions? Lipstick. "You can put lipstick on a pig," Barack Obama told a rally in a reference to a line in Sarah Palin's vice presidential acceptance speech. "It's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still going to stink after eight years."

Was he talking about Sarah being a PIG? Obama says NO, McCain says YES.

So, let's MUSH ON (pun intended) with a couple days of talking about who meant what and who put a dinger on who. McCain's campaign called the comments "offensive and disgraceful" and said Obama owes Palin an apology. Obama's campaign said he wasn't referring to Palin and said the GOP camp was engaging in a "pathetic attempt to play the gender card." Obama's camp also noted that McCain once used the same phrase to describe Hillary Rodham Clinton's health care plan.

Oh, but that was different! HOLY SOW! Mud wrestling at it's best. But, we've just begin!

The colorful cosmetic has become a political buzzword, thanks to Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's joke in her acceptance speech that lipstick is the only thing that separates a hockey mom like her from a pit bull. Thank you so much Sarah.  :-)

Sarah Palin Pushes Buttons!

Let's face it, mavericks are, well, MAVERICKS! John McCain says he is one and so he picks Sarah Palin becuase she is one. But, has Sarah gone too far in making that point stick? Or is the hand writing on the wall that McCain is going to lose and Sarah Barracuda wants to set herself aprt in some areas, from mcCain, wo she can have her own forum and "standing" within the party for 2012? It's obvious McCain is done after this election.

Several McCain advisers have suggested to CNN that they have become increasingly frustrated with what one aide described as Palin "going rogue." A Palin associate, however, said the candidate is simply trying to "bust free" of what she believes was a damaging and mismanaged roll-out. Really! I'm glad someone is admitting it.

McCain sources say Palin has gone off message several times, and they privately wonder if the incidents were deliberate. They cited that she labeled robocalls -- recorded messages often used to attack a candidate's opponent -- "irritating" even as the campaign defended their use. Also, they pointed to her telling reporters she disagreed with the campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.

Hey, a woman reserve the right to change her mind.  :-)

A second McCain source tells CNN she appears to be looking out for herself more than the McCain campaign. "She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone," said this McCain adviser. "She does not have any relationships of trust with any of us, her family or anyone else. "Also, she is playing for her own future and sees herself as the next leader of the party. Remember: Divas trust only unto themselves as they see themselves as the beginning and end of all wisdom."

I didn't know that about divas!

But I have seen that in those who are AMBITIOUS and if there's any label that fits Sarah Palin it is ambitious. So, maybe they be right. Others say Palin is trying to take more control of her message, pointing to last week's impromptu press conference on a Colorado tarmac. Tracey Schmitt, Palin's press secretary, was urgently called over after Palin wandered over to the press and started talking. Schmitt unsuccessfully tried several times to end the unscheduled session. "We acknowledge that perhaps she should have been out there doing more," a different Palin adviser recently told CNN, arguing, "It's not fair to judge her off one or two sound bites" from the network interviews.

Ah, the stress of political campaigns. But in a week it will all be over with and we'll see which direction all the birds fly and to which intention they roost! In the meantime, count on Sarah to push some more testoserene buttons!   :-)

Palin Abuses Power

Is there anyone who doesn't abuse power when they get in office? It just seems to go with the territory. Sarah Palin violated her state's Ethics Act in the events surrounding the firing of the state's Public Safety commissioner, an investigator for Alaska's state legislature has concluded in a report approved this evening on a 12-0, bipartisan vote by Alaska's Legislative Council.

Take note. It as a 12-0 bipartisan vote!

Would you be surprised if she denied the report? In fact the McCain team put out their own report ahead of this report to hopefully tamp down the damage. Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin denied Saturday that she had abused her power as Alaska's governor, a conclusion reached by a state investigator in a report released the day before.

Palin violated state ethics law by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from the state police, a state investigator's report for the bipartisan Legislative Council concluded Friday. "Gov. Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states.

Ah but that's just politics- as usual.

Ahead of Friday's hearing, Palin supporters wearing clown costumes and carrying balloons denounced the probe as a "kangaroo court" and a "three-ring circus" led by supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. Sure, blame Obama! The state senator managing the probe, Sen. Hollis French, fueled those complaints with a September 2 interview in which he warned the inquiry could yield an "October surprise" for the GOP.

Surpirse? Ethics violations by an elected offical a surpirse? Not even with Sara Barracuda is this a surprise, unfortunately. It's just politics!

Plymouth Cuda – the Muscle Car to Own

The 1970 Plymouth Cuda is a beautiful re-design of its previous models. An increased width of 5 inches allowed more powertrain options. The uncluttered and clean appearance of the this truly respected and memorable Plymouth was designed by sheet metal and styling. The smooth features of the exterior side were fenders, quarter panels with flush mounted door handles. The grill had single headlamp, two rectangular inlets with urethane coated electrometric bumpers which were optional. The Cuda looked like a pony car with the long hood and deck lid. Interior features such as high back buckets, steering wheel, smooth edges, large gauges and door panels gave a new look to the car. The 1970 Cuda was available with options like rear spoiler, rear window louvers, Hurst pistol grip shifter, Ralleye wheels, hood scoops, fog lamps, hockey stick striped quarter panels with attractive colors of TorRed, Lemon Twist, In Violet, Vitamin C and Lime Light. The Cuda 70 cars were considered as the most valuable Mopar muscle cars which were available in coupe and convertible models. There was 21,017 Cudas produced during the 1970 model year.

The 1971 Plymouth Cuda saw some changes from the 70 model which included a cheese grater grill with 4 headlights, tail lights, fin like vents on fenders. The model included billboard decals which were optional on quarter panels covering door to rear side of the Plymouth car. The engine sizes during the year were 340, 383, 440 and hemi with optional electrometric bumpers. Interior of the car was upgraded with good seats and grip with options of split buckets. With minimal styling changes, the 1971 Cuda was most sought after by the people. Coupe and convertible models were available and totally 6602 Cuda cars were produced during the year.

The Plymouth Cuda muscle car was released in 1972 with drastic changes from its previous models. During the period of the car, just like Detroit muscle cars, the Plymouth also faced issues of insurance pressures, gas shortages and emission standards. The features of the old model such as shaker scoop, shaker and big blocks were changed by small low compression blocks. The exterior Cuda had minimal changes. The single headlights of the 1972 Cuda were just like the 1970 model. Instead of using horizontal blind style which existed in the models of previous years, larg dual round unit tail lights were used in the 1972 Plymouth Cuda model. There were some minor exterior changes which included optional striping and not hockey stripe or billboard. The interior of the Cuda looked much the same as its previous models. But the advertisements of the car boasted standard bucket seats offering the users better grip and comfort compared to its previous models. The 1972 Plymouth Cuda was available in two basic options viz., 318 2bbl or hi performance 340 cid motor. The Plymouth Barracuda was available with a 4 speed including a pistol grip shifter. The 1972 Cuda came in a Coupe model. The 318 cid model had engine options of 8.8 Comp., 150 HP with standard motor whereas 340 model had engine of 8.5 Comp., and 240 HP. During the year 7828 total Cuda cars were produced much to the muscle car crowds enjoyment.

Sarah Palin Attack Dog or Barracuda?

Another  week, another political convention.  This week kicks off the Republican National Convention that will see the nomination of John McCain for President and Sarah Palin for Vice-President, though the schedule is in flux with Hurricane Gustav that has landed in Louisiana.

McCain named Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, as his running mate on August 29th.  She was more or less a surprise pick.  She is not well known on the national scene, at least from a media perspective.

The first day of the convention was greatly abbreviated.  The only real speakers were Laura Bush and Cindy McCain putting out a call for help for the areas affected by Gustav.  They also made announcements of some projects that the Republicans will be undertaking to help victims of Gustav.  This fit with the theme for the day:  Service.

The theme for Tuesday was Reform.  The main speakers of the evening were Laura Bush, George Bush, Fred Thompson, and Joe Lieberman.   President Bush gave a very short speech about McCain and didn't really say too much.  Fred Thompson followed and defended the choice of Sarah Palin for vice-president and helped define McCain a bit more.  He was followed by Joe Lieberman, who was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee 8 years ago.  Lieberman went between praising McCain, defending Palin, and hitting out at Barack Obama.  The keynote speech to be given by Rudy Guiliani was moved to Wednesday.

Wednesday the theme is Prosperity.  Palin gave her acceptance speech tonight and America got their first real chance to know her.  Palin filled the vice-presidential role of attack dog.  And she did a good job of attacking Barack Obama and Joe Biden.  McCain is going to have a tough time topping her speech.  Also speaking were Mitt Romney, Meg Whitman, Mike Huckabee,  and Kay Bailey Hutchinson.   The speeches once again seem to focus on John McCain, but not on any policy stances for the candidates.

Thursday will be John McCain's day.  The theme for the final day of the convention is Peace.   The day is supposed to showcase McCain's idea of American goodwill and our pursuit of peace in the world.  McCain tops off the evening with his acceptance speech.  Then the campaign can begin with 60 days until Election Day.

The convention schedule will be very flexible and may change on any day in response to the events of Gustav.  One of the places you can keep up with the ever changing world is 104inc.com.

Sarah “barracuda” Palin: a Moose in Every Pot?

Just when it seemed like the campaign was going to settle into trench warfare McCain's troops have given the flag to someone with fresh legs (it's a sports reference guys - no sexual harassment intended) who is charging into the freshly formed battle lines of the Democratic Party.

Just when I thought it was going to be the old white guys against the young Black guy John McCain throws me a curve ball high and tight.  I was just starting to lean in thinking I knew what they were about to deliver and whoosh, it grazed my chin!  Instead of a hawk, instead of another wrinkled old dude, he brings in Sarah Palin the youngest newcomer on either ticket.

Now she is a dangerous pick for the Democrats at a lot of levels.  She has a son who will be in Iraq soon as an Army infantryman.  She has a son with Down Syndrome of whom she says, "Yeah, he has an extra chromosome. I keep thinking, in our world, what is normal and what is perfect?" She has three daughters.  She is a known as a reformer who takes no prisoners in either party.

Sarah Palin has some serious pluses for the Republicans.  She's American as apple pie.  She's female, she's a mom, she's young, she's a principled leader from all reports I've found, she's the daughter of a school teacher and coach.  The only exception I found in my quick and dirty research is her firing of Walter Monegan as Commissioner of Public Safety allegedly for refusing to fire a state trooper who was married to her sister.  She did pull a bit of a Putin move with a dairy that I'll talk about later.

Sarah Palin apparently eats moose burgers, rides snowmobiles and owns a float plane.  She and her Tup'ik Eskimo husband Todd have five children, two boys and three girls.  He is a champion snowmobile rider and she is a former beauty queen and state champion basketball player.  She's also a lifelong member of the NRA.  She could only be a more perfect Republican if she was male but in this election, her gender may be the perfect chemistry for making McCain's ticket a winning one.

Of course Sarah Palin has to overcome the inexperience knock but then she did that in becoming the Governor of Alaska, and the youngest ever and only female ever to boot.  I don't think that the Democrats are going to dislodge her as a serious candidate on that issue.  I think it's a waste of time to do more than make the statement that her experience is in running a town of less than 9,000 people and three years running a state awash in oil money.

Her leadership naiveté and overzealousness may be exposed somewhat by her failed attempt to keep the Matanuska Maid Dairy closure from happening.  Sarah Palin, in a move that would make Putin proud, replaced the entire Alaskan Board of Agriculture and Conservation in order to prevent the dairy from closing.  She used her authority as governor in an extremely heavy handed move that only delayed the eventual financial failure of the dairy and cost the state even more than the $600 million it had already invested.

The Democrats are going to hit her hardest on her conservative values.  She has lived her pro-life stance when she refused to terminate her pregnancy upon learning that her youngest son would be born with Down Syndrome.  She was not only the team captain of her state championship basketball team, she was the prayer leader.  She is against gay marriage although she did support equal access to benefits for same sex couples in Alaska.

All in all I think that choosing Sarah Palin is a gutsy, wiley pick by McCain.  I am not sure it's going to work but I guess a young Barracuda is better than another old fox.  She's going to appeal to a lot of right leaning Republicans but I am not so sure that she will draw in that many women.  She may simply be too conservative, too church lady in her paisley frilled blouses, too Annie Oakley in her moose skin jacket, too Hillary in her cold uncompromising demeanor, or maybe she will have all the goods.

Alaska is still the wild, wild west, the beckoning frontier and where better to draw a gritty, straight-talkin', straight-shootin', Eskimo-marryin', moose-munchin' pioneer woman for the Republican party?

Barracudas and Dandelions: Clipart and Small Business Finance

Business is like a barracuda—swift and silvery, sliding through the water and cutting past its prey. Business is also like a dandelion, quick to take root and swift to blow away; unless that dandelion grants a wish, it may vanish on the wind. But whether animal or vegetable, in the water or on the land, can business be—free? As in, can a business provide something for free? Well, free clipart is part of a broad history of online distribution services aimed to increase the public domain and enable the small businessperson. Even in our metaphors—barracudas, water, prey, dandelions, and wind—we have hit on just a small sampling of online clipart.

Free clipart isn't just a business, though; free clipart is a gift to businesses, especially small businesses. Letterhead, checks, logos, signs, and websites all benefit from free clip art. Whereas extensive design work once had to go into even the most mediocre of media, free clipart has helped build up the reservoir of design opportunities, affording entrepreneurs yet another way to take hold of some stopgap measures. While you wait to grow into bigger advertising projects, clip art makes your fliers exactly what you need.

Quality is crucial, of course. Using just any free graphics to fill your clipart needs won't always turn out for the best. When appropriate and successful finance is your aim, you can't afford to load up with shady half-baked measures. Barracudas slide right on by and dandelions blow away unwished-on. For free clipart to be effective clipart, you need to be willing to take the time to go hunting. Most large clip art libraries are able to fit most bills when it comes to small business; however, free clipart does not come only in big chunks. Small free clipart libraries often carry unique images that can be taken and used as is or incorporated into something more to help facilitate effective finance in your small business. Of course, with all of this, you cannot discount the effect that paid clip art can have on your business. Sometimes you have to pay money to make money.

Ultimately, here is the way to think of how clipart affects you. The barracuda might be your venture—but let's say the barracuda is the clipart. It cuts through the marketing fluff and weaves its way into the hearts of your advertising audience. The dandelion is your small business finance. If you aren't careful with it—if you don't want it enough—it blows away, never to be seen again. Free clipart fixes that. Think outside the box. Think creatively. Think free—and think freely; then, you will have the mindset you need to make something happen with your small business. Finance may not be free. It may be frustrating. But making your name can be made easier. Just look for the swift silvery flash, make a wish, and make it work.

Sarah Barracuda

She has one of the most engaging smiles and Rush Limbaugh is proud of the fact that she can show her ankles and legs- whatever that says to him! I am talking about Sarah Palin of course who has her say at the Republican convention Wednesday evening. She was introduced to us just five days ago as this sweet and charming girl from Alaska who likes to hunt and snowmobile. But what else?

It would be a gross understatement to say that she's AMBITIOUS!

What mother of five children, living in another world from that of inside the Washington Beltway, a five month old down syndrome, and a seventeen year old unmarried daughter that's pregnant, would take on teh job of running for vice president as well. It tires me out just thinking of how many balls she has in the air (and obviously she has some).  :-)

Maybe the nick name that she was pegged with while playing basketball in high school says more than we know! Yes, she's a former beauty queen, but also a fierce competitor known as "Sarah Barracuda," a political insider-turned-outsider and the first female governor of Alaska. She may claim to be "just an average hockey mom," but John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin is anything but average.

Having lived with for longer than I can remember, but now mostly having overcome ADD, what Sarah Palin has done and will now being makes me tired. And I though I was still fairly good at multi-tasking. But Sarah has taken the phrase and concept to a whole new level. Can it really be a good thing? I guess it all depends upon where you palce your values, but for a woman whom the Republicans say epitomizes family values, I guess we see things a bit differently.

What kind of a family can she possibly- NOW?
